Honey+ funded by FCT


Honey+ is one out of the 6 projects that were recommended for funding by FCT, under the call for SR&TD projects in Natural Park of Montesinho. Coordinated by Cristina Delerue Matos, the project was selected among 60 applications.

“Honey+ seeks to enhance the regional economy by adding value to the honey from the Natural Park of Montesinho, through the exploration of new potentialities far beyond the honey's nutritional value.”, as explained by Cristina Delerue Matos, coordinator of the Environmental Chemistry research group and Professor at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do PORTO (ISEP) of the Instituto Politécnico do Porto (IPP).

The project aims to use honey as an indicator of environmental quality and as a product with antimicrobial properties, with promising applications for wound healing.Honey+ is a multi-institutional project, counting on the collaboration of the Associação dos Apicultores do Parte Natural de Montesinho, the Universidad de Vigo, and the Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.
